We are looking for an Assistant Controller to join our growing finance team.

The Assistant Controller will play a key role by independently fulfilling essential accounting functions while supporting the Controller. As a part of this role, the Assistant Controller will also have an opportunity to become a leader in the implementation of new technologies within the Finance department. Key responsibilities for this project will include exploring, learning and developing these systems in order to enhance our work. As a part of this role, you will be able to:

  • Perform weekly and monthly bank reconciliations
  • Prepare daily and weekly cash flow reports
  • Assist with the month end process, reconciling balance sheet accounts, and general ledger maintenance
  • Maintain capital assets schedules and filing of source documentation
  • Preparation of journal entries
  • Compile financial reports and KPI analysis
  • Participate in continuous improvement projects/initiatives
  • Assist accounts receivable and accounts payables as required
  • Oversee all retail store bookkeeping and accounting functions, including compilation of monthly financial statements
  • Coordinate annual audit with external auditors
  • Assist with training and participate in cross-training activities upon request
  • Statistics Canada reporting
  • Prepare and send government remittances (HST, EHT, WSIB, etc.)
  • Ad hoc reports, analysis, and other duties as assigned


  • CPA designation or actively in pursuit preferred
  • Post secondary education in business or accounting
  • 3+ years General Accounting experience
  • Excellent attention to detail and results driven
  • Proficient analytical and critical thinking skills
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Flexible and team oriented
  • Advanced user of the Microsoft Office suite applications (Excel, Word, Outlook, Power Point)
  • Experience with ERP/MRP systems an asset
