About the Role
As an industry leader focused on driving growth and execution excellence, we are looking for a Sourcing Project Manager to join our growing Supply Chain team. Reporting to the Director of Supply Chain, the Sourcing Project Manager leads the supply network studies, proposes award of business, and leads project execution/timelines for sourcing projects – with support from operations, planning, marketing, product development, sales, and finance functions.
The scope is inclusive of product innovation as well as continuous improvement projects that deliver better cost, quality, and service - for example strategic make vs. buy choices, and business continuity planning.
Duties & Responsibilities
Identify potential sources of new products, during the ideation and development stages of innovation.
Gather price quotations, capacities, minimum order quantities, and lead times from potential suppliers.
Assess landed cost for the end-to-end supply network options, leveraging the expertise of supply chain resources across the manufacturing, planning, procurement, logistics, and quality teams.
Recommend Award of Business based on the best-balanced choice, using a Total Cost of Ownership model.
Post-AOB, coordinate with cross-functional team members to make sure that all parties are on track with project requirements, deadlines, and schedules - through start of ship date so that each new product launch is shipped on time, in full.
Escalate significant issues in a timely fashion to the project sponsors, for resolution.
Prevent unnecessary scope changes, and when necessary, manage change requests to ensure that all parties are informed of the impacts on schedule and budget.
Identify, develop, and lead continuous improvement opportunities within the supply chain.
Continuously improve the innovation process by building key learnings from projects, back into the stage-gate approach and standards.
Prepare program status reports by gathering, analyzing, and summarizing relevant information.
Track actual savings versus projections, for projects expected to deliver cost benefits.
Conduct post-project evaluation and identify successful and unsuccessful project elements.
Up to 25% travel is required, to suppliers, and to the company HQ in Ontario, Canada
Work in a safe manner and meet company safety requirements
Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
A bachelor’s degree or master's degree in a related field.
Proven experience in project management. Project Management Professional (PMP) certification is a plus.
Excellent ability to collaborate with a cross functional team and resolve conflicts.
Strong understanding of formal project management methodologies and strategic value creation.
Strong problem-solving skills.
Strong time-management skills.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Strong ability to work independently.
Experience with production and inventory control systems.
Advanced MS Office Suite skills, with extreme focus on Excel sheets.
Solid financial aptitude is an asset.
