About the Role

Under the direction of the Assistant Controller, this position will provide assistance with general accounting practices, ensuring deadlines are met. This role will also support and assist the finance team with other functions as needed.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Responsible for recording journal entries, reconciling ledger accounts and identifying opportunities for improvement to processes or format

  • Reconciliation and maintenance of balance sheet accounts

  • Assist with the month end process, including the preparation of required journal entries and analysis of general ledger accounts.

  • Assist with accounting function of retail store and website (ecommerce business)

  • Assist accounts receivable and accounts payables as required

  • Prepare periodic government remittances (WSIB, EHT, etc.)

  • Generate and send Statistics Canada reports

  • Perform other duties as assigned


  • Actively enrolled or in pursuit of the CPA designation, preferred

  • Post-secondary education in business or accounting

  • 2-3 years general accounting experience

  • Excellent attention to detail

  • Flexible and team oriented

  • Intermediate to advanced user of Microsoft Office Suite applications (Excel, Word, Outlook, Power Point)

  • Experience with MRP systems, including Visual and Global financials an asset
